Heart Emblem

Antoinette Gloria LaPlante, age 89 of Sterling Heights, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Lakeside Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan. She was born December 11, 1927 in Hamtramck, daughter of thelate John and the late Josephine (nee: Olejniczak) Petrykowski.

Along with caring for her family and taking care of the homemaker responsibilities, Antoinette also spent a chapter of her life working as a clerk at her church in Warren, St. Edmund Catholic Church,…the newly named St. Faustina. Serving in her capacity as a help and support to the daily operations of the church, Antoinette was the perfect woman for the job as she possessed the heart of a servant and was extremely devout in her faith and beliefs. Always one to pray the Rosary and seek guidance from the Lord, Antoinette lifted up her loved ones each and every day, and was always there to lend a hand where help was needed. The Bible's Great Commission compels us to "take His gospel into all the world,"…and Antoinette truly did her part with reverence and humility.

Antoinette possessed a host of varied skills and talents that set her apart, but perhaps none could hold a candle to her matchless gifts that emanated from the kitchen. Like most women and mothers of her time, cooking simply came naturally and was a skill most women had down pat. But for Antoinette, she added her own style of "BAM" long before the cooking channel's, Emeril Lagasse came on the scene,…or, perhaps, was even born. You see,…Antoinette was of Polish descent and grew up watching her ancestor's create some of the old world dishes that made your eyes roll back in your head, and she certainly learned how to infuse her own special touch into the many recipes passed down. Give her a kitchen with a stove and oven and there was bound to be something spectacular that would come out and go on the table. Mealtimes at Antoinette's were like going to a 5 Star Polish restaurant, all within the comforts of home. If you left her table hungry, you just weren't tryin'!

Yet of all the joys Antoinette held treasured, nothing could beat the matchless love she possessed in the gifts she held through her precious grandchildren,…34 in all. From her children came the first 11 jewels. From her grandchildren came another 19 precious souls,…and from them came the latest 4, her great-great grandbabies. Yes, her quiver was surely full of love beyond measure and gifts from God that provided Antoinette a source of youthfulness that kept her going. She always looked forward to each and every visit, and now passes from their Grandmother to Guardian Angel to keep watch over each of them,…just in a different way.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Antoinette leaves behind a legacy of love that speaks volumes to her faith, her compassion & care, and to the incredible way she touched so many in her journey through life. For all who were blessed to know this wonderful Christian, Mother and Servant, she leaves a treasure trove of memories to be embraced with each reflection shared. Without question, she now rests in the arms of God and most certainly has heard those special words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." She will truly be missed, and be loved eternally.

Antoinette was the beloved wife of the late Thomas. Dearest mother of Thomas LaPlante, John (Adeline) LaPlante, Donald LaPlante, and Debra (Dean) Yosin. She was also a loving & devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren.
